My motherboard chipset is 848P, CPU is P42.0A GHz, HDD 80GB, video card for the ATI9200, memory 256MB, installed the WinXP Pro, in order to transfer the units and large data files between home and recently bought an IBM 40GB external hard disk, but when I connected the hard drive to the computer copying large files,it crash, i do not know why?
A: You can connect the external hard disk to another normal computer, if the external hard drivesnormal, then use another USB interface to test on your own computer, if you still have this problem, probably caused by insufficient power supply. External hard disk are generally directly taken power from the USB interface, USB interface power supply is limited, so some high-capacity external hard disk may be abnormal working caused by the power supply shortage. I suggest you use a external hard drive with the PS / 2 interface cable to take power from the motherboard’s PS / 2 interface. If there are two USB interfaces, all are connected to try.
