USB portable external hard drive data transfer slow in DOS
Posted in Hard Drive Failure by manyu time 5 AprThere is a problem I don’t understand, I start the computer into DOS with a floppy disk, found that USB portable external hard disk data transfer rate is much slower than in the normal WinXP state, I COPY files under DOS slower at least 10 times than in WinXP, why?
A: This is because DOS is a 16-bit operating system, and we are using WinXP 32-bit operating system. Also, if your portable external hard disk is USB2.0, DOS can only support USB1.0, but in WinXP can support USB2.0, USB2.0 theoretical USB1.0 data transfer rate is 40 times. Although the difference in actual use are less, probably 8-10 times. For example, portable external hard drive with USB2.0 USB1.0 1G copy movies under 40 minutes, while the state of replication in USB2.0 1GB movie only 1-2 minutes.
