Boot to a DOS prompt and run the fdisk command. From there delete all of the partitions. Take the boot disk out, restart the machine with the Windows CD. It should see that there are not partitions on the hard drive. Choose to do a quick format with NTFS and install.
There are two great utilities. The first is BootIt NG and the second is CopyWipe. You can make bootable floppies or CDs from either one. (Be aware that you have to download the free MakeDisk utility to burn the disks, but doing so is simple and painless.) You will learn quite a bit about your drives from either one. I use BING, Be sure when you boot to hit “Cancel” and then “OK” to go into the Maintenance mode. You do not need to install any software. Disclaimer: I am not connected with Terabyte Unlimited in any way. I am just an ecstatic customer.
In order to see the SATA disk you need to load the drivers for it when you start the Windows XP install. Â When the install start it prompts you to press F6 to load a third party RAID controller. Â Press F6 at this point and when it prompts you to load the drivers, put in the floppy disk that came with your motherboard. Â If you don’t have this disk you will need to download it from your motherboard makers web site.
