Using FDISK to partition the hard disk, but there is a very strange thing that the original extended partition can not be deleted (using a branded machine)!
Start the computer with the floppy disk into FDISK, found that the hard drive capacity is 40GB, extended partition accounted for 25GB, there is no Logical disk (already deleted). Then turn into the “Delete partition Or Logical Dos Drive – Delete Extended Dos partition” menu, delete the extended partition, but it has prompted “Cannot delete Extended Dos partition while logical drives exist” (When the Logical disk can not delete the extended partition exists)! In order to re-confirm that access to “Delete partition Or Logical Dos Drive – Delete Logical Dos Drive (s) in the Extended Dos partition” menu, delete the Logical disk, it prompt “No logical drives defined” (in defined Logical disk).
Many computer manufacturers in order to reduce customer’s worries of reinstall the system will done a good backup into a dedicated partition after installed the system and hidden it, Because FDISK itself can not see if the partition is hidden or not, but we can use PQmagic tools to check the hard disk, indeed there is a hidden partition, click Cancel hidden exit PQmagic. When re-entering the FDISK, the discovery of a Logical disk into the “Delete partition Or Logical Dos Drive – Delete Logical Dos Drive (s) in the Extended Dos partition” menu, deletes the Logical Disk. Also enter the “Delete partition Or Logical Dos Drive – Delete Extended Dos partition” menu; finally extended partition has been removed successfully.
