I intend to upgrade my computer, and prepared to buy two hard drives to set up RAID system, and i heard there are several ways such as 0,1,5 and RAID 5E, What is the difference between them?
RAID 0 is to use two hard drives as a hard drive, two hard drives in parallel relationship, the equivalent of dual channel memory, speed can be doubled in theory, but less reliable, if a hard drive have problems will cause all data loss. RAID 1 is actually a backup image, two hard drives are exactly the same data, a second hard drive is the first hard disk image, so long as one hard drive is good, data integrity can be assured that this ways to the disadvantage of low disk utilization.
RAID 5 support three or more hard drives, and parity with the mechanism, there is some fault tolerance can be allowed to have a hard drive damage. RAID 5 is equivalent to an increase of the backup disk based on RAID 5E, it can simultaneously support four or more hard drives, data more reliable.hard drive repair
